If a zesty destination is what you want, you can never go wrong with Jamaica. It is full of fun and enticing entertainment venues everywhere you go. Whether you are in Kingston to have a taste of the grand Jamaican history, or perhaps in Montego Bay to indulge in the juxtaposition of nature's masterpieces and innovative luxuries, you will still hear bustling reggae music around.
Fantastic Caribbean spots and Bob Marley-caliber kind of reggae are what Jamaica is most famous for. Unknown to many, however, Jamaica's uniqueness and distinctiveness extend to its cuisine.
Due to having immigrants from India, Spain, America, England, Africa and even China, Jamaican cuisine became a fusion of different cooking techniques from the different continents of the world. Hence, the cuisine is dissimilar to its neighboring Caribbean countries which almost replicate each other's cuisines.
Most famous is the Jamaican patty -- a yellowed pastry filled with chicken, cheese, lobster, crab, or vegetables. The patty is usually paired with cooked meat and beer. Paired with another dish, the patty becomes an adequate and flavorful main course. The patties are also sometimes sandwiched in coconut bread.
Another popular food is the Jamaican Jerk Meat which is made by marinating meat in a very hot marinade and cooking over a specialized pit fire until desired texture is achieved. Jerk Meat is sometimes sold canned, too. As a main entree, it is eaten with rice and grilled vegetables.
These are but two things that would make one think of the colors of the Jamaican flag: good times and great food.
